There’s nothing more reassuring to a proud dog owner than a healthy, vetted dog, and nothing more satisfying that a well groomed one. But Diane’s beloved poodle mix, Sukee, would have to wait for both while Diane underwent extensive surgery followed by in-patient chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancer. Already living on social security disability, with little left over for “luxuries,” she confessed many times to her palliative care social worker that she wished she could afford to have Sukee, her one true companion, vetted and groomed. That same, caring social worker appealed to us, and we were pleased to provide Diane with a grant. Once her treatments were completed and she was strong enough, Diane’s wish was realized when her precious Sukee was vetted and groomed at last.
