Nomi, Creative Content Contributor – Because Nomi is the pen behind the prose, please accept her adopted Maltese, Mini, in her place. A Journalism graduate from the American University, Washington, D.C., Nomi is the best selling author of seven novels, one work of non-fiction, two volumes of poetry and hundreds of articles. An obsession with Uggie, the Jack Russell terrier from the film “The Artist” led to her passion for all things dog. She lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where she works 24/7 volunteering her writing skills to animal rescue organizations throughout Canada and the USA.

Pam KellyPam, Volunteer – Pam has been involved in animal rescue for 9 years. She has always been an animal lover, but it was after rescuing her dog from a shelter in 2004 that she realized how many homeless pets were out there, and felt the need to get involved. After volunteering at local animal shelters, she joined forces with the other members of STARelief and Pet Assistance to build a non-profit that is focused on keeping pets with their owners.

When not organizing fundraisers for STARelief, Pam is a full time kindergarten teacher in Greenwich, CT. She enjoys sharing her love of animals with her students, and teaching them the importance of caring for all critters!

Heather and Carmine

Heather, Program Director – Heather — having two passions: helping pets and people in need — entered the animal welfare world over 19 years ago. While volunteering her free time at local shelters and animal welfare organizations she realized there was a great need and void in the community to assist pet caretakers in keeping their pets at home and out of shelters.

Since  joining STARelief and Pet Assistance in February of 2012, Heather has been able to combine her passions by providing life-saving pet food and veterinary care to individuals and families in need.
